Vayyar Imaging, the Israeli provider of radar-based 4D imaging solutions, has partnered with Amazon to make Vayyar Care, Vayyar's contactless fall detection solution, compatible with Amazon's new Alexa Together service, which is launching today.
The wall-mounted sensors use point cloud imaging technology to constantly monitor their surroundings, providing peace of mind while maintaining privacy. Vayyar Care detects falls in all lighting conditions, including complete darkness and even in dense vapor. This makes it ideal for use in bathrooms, where 80% of falls occur[1] and where customers may not want cameras.
After a fall, the usual buttons and cords are often unreachable, and even wearable devices cannot provide 24/7 protection: a third of seniors forget to put on their devices and a fifth refuse[2 ] to use them because they fear losing their independence.
In fact, over 90% of seniors prefer to continue living independently rather than move into an assisted living community.[3]
"We created Alexa Together to help older customers feel more comfortable and secure living independently," said Nicolas Maynard, Senior Manager, Amazon Alexa. "Alexa Together offers even more benefits for aging customers when they can connect a device like Vayyar Care. We're excited to partner with Vayyar Imaging to provide our customers with added peace of mind."
When the Vayyar Care device detects a fall, it sends a signal to Alexa to ask if the customer would like to call the Alexa Together Urgent Response emergency hotline. Alexa also sends a notification to the care recipient's caregiver.
"As today's seniors are more empowered and engaged than ever before, there is a clear need for smart technologies that will enable them to maintain their lifestyle and provide the protection they need, as well as the inner peace, their families expect," said Raviv Melamed, co-founder and CEO of Vayyar. "This is where Vayyar Care comes in, and I'm excited that we can play a central role in Amazon's new Alexa Together service."
Vayyar Care builds on the global success of the company's B2B platform, which provides real-time falls detection and advanced activity analytics for senior living communities in the US, EU, China, Australia and beyond.
The multifunctional sensor technology is based on low-power radio waves and offers a safe, robust and reliable solution for elderly people who want 24/7 protection without compromising their privacy or independence.
Vayyar Care is now available at amazon.com.
