It ensures the perfect eye impact and completes a look only really. Eyelash cloth can probably be found in every make-up case. It is one of the most popular beauty products with which women-and more and more men-make up their make-up.
But what is actually in the black paste, which gives the eyelashes a nice swing and condenses them? Öko-Test has examined several mascaras and found in some even carcinogenic ingredients. You can find out which eyelashes fail in the analyses and which convince you here.
Eco-test: these four mascaras contain carcinogenic substances.
A total of 14 mascaras were part of the tests, of which three were waterproof. The testers wanted to know how good the mascaras are and whether the eyelashes look really fuller and longer. In addition, the ingredients of the make-up products were analyzed.
In the case of waterproof eyelash cloths, it was tested whether they comply with what their name promises-namely whether they can withstand water and spray mist. Eco-test tested both expensive brand products as well as cheap eyelash cloths from drugstore brands.

Cheap eyelash cloths best cut off
One thing was clearly demonstrated by the test: it is not necessarily the expensive products that deliver the best result. Oeko-Test won the mascara "the colossal 100% Black" by Maybelline and "rival de loop ultimate volume fake lashes mascara" by Rossmann for 5.90 and 3.50 euros each 10 milliliters. Both received the note "good".
This is followed by the most expensive mascara of the test. "Le volume de Chanel mascara" from the luxury brand Chanel costs 58.50 euros per 10 milliliters in the retail market and just behind the two test winners takes third place in Öko-Test with the mark "good". They all ensured an optimal swing of the eyelashes.
Carcinogenic substances discovered in four mascaras
Four mascaras went through the testers. The "trend it up N °1 mascara" by DM and the "classic volume Black mascara" by Sante Naturkosmetik discovered carcinogenic ingredients such as heavy metal arsenic.
Die wasserfesten Wimperntuschen "Glam & Doll Volume Mascara Waterproof" von Catrice Cosmetics und die "Volume Hero Mascara Waterproof" von Essence enthielten ebenfalls einen mutmaßlich krebserregenden Stoff, den polyzyklischen aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoff Naphthalin.
Study shows that every second cosmetic product contains carcinogenic substances. But they can prevent: with this app you can detect pollutants in beauty products.
Only one product is really waterproof
According to Eco-Test, these substances enter the beauty products via contaminated raw materials such as black colour pigments. For this reason, these four mascaras received only the note "sufficient" and are not recommended by the testers accordingly.
Tests to test waterproof mascaras were disappointing. Two of the three mascaras advertised as waterproof fell through due to carcinogenic ingredients, and they also failed to withstand the spray and water test. Only the "classic Volum 'express waterproof" by Maybelline achieved good results and remained waterproof.

Not as much volume as promised
This mascara received only one "satisfying" in the test, because it promises "up to 3x more volume with only 1x". This could refute eco-test. After the ink the eyelashes were measured by laser technology. It turned out that the volume was only doubled.
Eco-test shows: good mascaras Don & APOs; t have to be expensive. Prefer to distance yourself from products with carcinogenic substances. This way you can be sure that the eyelash that you use every day is not harmful to health.
