Angelina Kirsch was discovered in Rome in an ice cream parlor at the age of 24 and has been a sought-after curvy model since then.As a juror of "Curvy Supermodel - real.Nice.Kurvig "At RTL II, she also gained initial experiences on TV.Today it is not only the advertising view of several fashion brands, but also moderates the cooking show "The Taste" on VOX, among other things.
But the charity is not neglected at Angelina either: DKMS Life, which can help cancer patients during therapy, to increase their self -esteem with various seminars and to gain new joie de vivre, the 33 -year -old is again this yearBrand ambassador.
In the Watson interview as part of the DKMS DreamDay in Berlin, Angelina spoke in detail about her task in the organization, explained why she suspects a stitch behind the Curvy Model Hype at "Germany's Next Top Model" and reveals that she is a pleasure personis that of "corona diets" does not think anything at all.
Watson: You have been to DKMS Life campaign ambassador again this year. What does this task mean for you and what is particularly important to you?
Angelina Kirsch: I noticed it again at the event how to help patients with hope and self -love.How it helps the patient if they don't lose hope when they get their own love back. And that's why it is a 'easy' task that can be achieved with a little effort as this support. You should take this opportunity to show gratitude that you are not ill with cancer yourself.Especially when you are doing well, you are also committed to doing good for others who are not doing so well right now.It can hit everyone - and then it is nice to know that there is someone who takes care of someone who catches you, there is a place where you can meet like -minded people.
You can hear from stars almost every day that have succumbed to their cancer, just recently the "Sex and the City" star Willie Garson.Have you already had any points of contact with cancer?
Clear.I think no matter who you ask, everyone will answer the question.Because that's just a bad illness that strikes around, more than ever. You get more and more people who are suffering from it and fight against it.Fortunately, there are also many who recover and thank God there were already some in my environment that have been well again.Unfortunately, two did not make it.It is a disease that is very serious that hits a lot of people and that it is important to say: I help and support where I can.
BarbaraNiceeberger und Angelina Kirsch beim DKMS LIFE Dreamday 2021 in Berlin.Bild: Eventpress SR für DKMS/ Eventpress SR für DKMSAs you say yourself, the DKMS Life is concerned with conveying cancer patients with joie de vivre and self -esteem.What have you learned on these topics - especially this year, men are increasingly the focus?
Especially in this crisis in which we have to struggle with Corona, the cancer patients should not be forgotten because the cancer simply does not take a break, but it still exists. It is all the more important to finance and enable the cosmetics seminars that are available through the DKMS Life.So that people can feel something like normality.
Cosmetics seminars are actually not necessarily events that are expected as an outsider for cancer patients.
I have heard that many times, it is usually smiled at a little and said: "Well, what do cancer patients want with a bit of make -up? They have completely different worries."No, just not.I think we can really imagine that in times of Corona in which we have to live as limited as a valuable normality is.A patient who is going through chemotherapy and no longer recognizes himself in the mirror - where should the normality be?You also want to recognize yourself, you want to grasp new courage, notice that life goes on and you have a chance to survive that. This can cause incredible ones, especially as far as recovery is concerned.
"Wir wurden ja lebende Zombies – also ich zumindest!"External figures certainly play a major role in this.
sure, of course. You always do it, but no.We all know this: when I go through a flu and pre -run on a mirror and I look at something like that, then I only feel sicker. But when I know how I can get myself in a certain amount and see that no sick person looks at me from the mirror, then what does what with me.
In the Lockdown it was the case that they did not really see the meaning behind it to make up.
And what did that do with us?We became living zombies - so at least me!And then I thought, that's it, it can't be.Now I have to start again to put my hair and something like make-up in the face and get my favorite razor from Gillette Venus out so that I can get the feeling of normality again. And then also this drive to continue.
You are a popular curvy model yourself and asked for catwalks and events. How did you learn to love and appreciate your body, did you even have to learn that?
Yes of course. At the latest in puberty, we all get to sway and think: Is that all really? And so it was with me too.Thank God my mother, who then said: "Child, you will be a woman, women have curves, we gave you everything you need to know, for a healthy body, for a healthy diet. But you are not only body, you are also spirit, do something good for your soul and take on what you are."
And this influence did a lot in your life?
I took that to heart and then grew up much more into the whole thing over time, of course also over the model job.To freely make me, to want everyone, which of course does not work. There were never customers who said I was perfect. There was always something to complain about. And to break away from it, after all, I don't like everyone, I succeeded in doing it through the model job.
How important is your family's feedback now, since you are now a model yourself?
Very important because my family are the people who love me as I am from the beginning of my life. That's why the feedback is totally important to me.It's not about someone says: "But you look fat in the top", but that just goes on, deeper. That plays a different role for me.
"Das ist auf den ersten Blick alles ganz toll, aber wenn man genauer hinsieht, merkt man, dass es oft eine halbgare Geschichte ist."Curvy models are also very popular internationally.Models with curves are now very far in shows like "GNTM".How do you assess the development in the model and beauty industry?
So I think it's great at first that there are more and more curvy models and that there is more to see from them. However, I think it's not enough and I think it's not consistent either.
Dascha ( 2. von rechts) kam 2021 als erstes Curvy-Model ins "GNTM"-Finale.Bild: dpa / Marc RehbeckHow do you mean?
I often have the impression that different formats, labels and media only take up this trend once.According to the motto: "We have to bow to the quota and now have to do it."But then only make it half -hearted and drop it afterwards. At first glance, that's really great, but if you take a closer look, you can tell that it is often a half -baked story.
What should change?
I would like that there are much more to be a matter of course, not just for curvys. But simply for diversity. That is also a huge concept that everyone wants to play. But I hope that there is even more seriousness behind it.
Also that the curvy of the models at "GNTM" is not always highlighted as a unique selling point?
At "GNTM" I thought it was great that a curvy model like Dascha came to the final. But when I looked at the finalists: there was a curvy, one with short red hair ... you always have to look a bit - is it really serious with diversity? If so, I think it's great that you try to map the population. But as soon as the viewer gets the feeling that there is not enough seriousness, then I find it a gift chance.
"When it comes to external, I don't care. Wenn mir jemand schreibt: 'Du hast so einen Riesenhintern, der braucht eine eigene Postleitzahl', dann lache ich drüber."Diversity is a big deal in business - did you have to gain negative experiences in the field of fashion and beauty?
Of course!
What do you remember specifically?
Once I had a shoot for laundry and someone did not understand that as a curvy model I have to attract other pattern parts of a different size than a slim model. In any case, the end result was that I had to squeeze myself into a small panties, French size 36 and somehow get the best out. That looked very funny from behind, but there was a very nice picture from the front. But I think everyone has such stories to tell.
How do you deal with such experiences?
It is simply important that you know that you are standing over.I laughed about it and said: "Well, you know, I also have private underpants with me."
I also read that you like to laugh about hate on the Internet and don't take it too much to heart. You also show yourself very confidently on Instagram. Are there still phases in which you meet you?
When it comes to external, I don't care.If someone writes to me: "You have such a giant but one needs their own zip code", then I laugh about it because I find it very creative that doesn't touch me anymore. But when I realize, it's about me as a person, it may also be about my performance, and then no nicely meant criticism, but just malice, then I have to swallow and filter briefly whether this is criticism or justangry.
You are also forgiven. Why did you decide to keep the relationship out of the public?
Well, why not?Not everyone shows their partner in public and mine has nothing else to do with the public. We talked about it for a long time and he knows that all the consequences would be part of it.Then everyone wants an interview, which is also completely understandable. But he is simply not a person to the public and does not want to be.And of course I also accept and respect that and prefer to enjoy it in private.
Which topics are particularly important to you when it comes to privacy, do you have other areas that you do not want to map on Instagram?
You actually see a lot of my life, at least I show a lot.For me it is simply important that those who take place there, like my family, for example, they know that they are also fine with it.Then I like to show that too, I like to share my life.As a person of the public, you have to do that for a bit, otherwise you don't have to go public at all.But there are limits and if someone says to me, he doesn't want it, then that's absolutely okay for me and I always find a diplomatic way to keep out of them.
"Ein Tag ohne Schokolade ist für mich verschwendet, aber ich brauche keine ganze Tafel, mir reicht auch nur ein Stück."You also moderate the show "The Taste" this year. What relationship do you have on the subject of nutrition?
I love to eat.For me, food is not a means to an end as for many others, but for me food is joie de vivre, pure enjoyment and good food is the biggest for me.That's why I'm in good hands with "The Taste", because it is about the perfect taste on this one spoon. And I can spoil: I stole and tasted backstage spoons this year. There were poems.I love this show, precisely because it is just about this one moment, this one spoon.A granulet too much salt and it is salted.A droplet too little sauce and the whole thing is dry. It's just so exciting.
So would you say you are an appetite and pleasure person or do you also set limits in your diet?
Everything is allowed for me - in moderation, not in masses. The crowd makes the poison, it always says.A day without chocolate is wasted for me, but I don't need a whole table, I am only enough for me a piece. On some days I might need half a board. But mostly only one piece is enough (laughs).
Many people had problems with nutrition in the lockdown because, for example, you were so much at home. Were you a little more undisciplined than usual during that time?
Actually, I handled it as I always did, but I understand it.Since I was always on the road a lot before, I also had a number of hours in which I didn't eat anything because I just couldn't do it.At home you just had the opportunity much more often, that was also the case with me.But then it was like that.Incidentally, I hate the word corona pounds, I think totally stupid.Yes, maybe one or the other grew a bit in time, but we also had a difficult time to get through.
How was this time for you personally?
I was lucky, I found a good distraction, I did my hula hoop, I went riding, so I still had my activities. And if you haven't done that, then don't just. But I think it's a shame when it is frowned upon and that all diets deal with it: "How do you get rid of the Corona pounds?"Why?You have helped not to go crazy.
What is planned for you in the future?
Let yourself be surprised! It remains exciting, it remains colorful, also private.I am not allowed to reveal so much yet.But it won't be quiet around me, promised.
