Duchess Meghan: sharp criticism of her political commitment

A few weeks ago, Duchess Meghan, 40, made a name for herself with an open letter to Democratic Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, 81, and US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, 70, in which she pleaded for paid parental leave. Shortly thereafter, the Duchess of Sussex called some US politicians with a suppressed number to draw further attention to her affair of the heart.

Duchess Meghan should stay out of "entire politics"

A well-intentioned action, but one that causes trouble. Royal expert Hilary Fordwich has now sharply criticized the Duchess of Sussex for meddling in politics using her title. "Prince Harry obviously can't control his wife because he knows full well that here in the US you can't be a renegade royal because that goes against the centuries-old tradition of royals staying out of politics. Not just American politics politics, but from politics as a whole," Fordwich complained in an interview with Dan Abrams for the US broadcaster "NewsNation".

Duchess Meghan: Sharp criticism of her political Commitment

That's right: British royals are forced to remain politically neutral and rarely speak out on such issues.

As the broadcaster "Access Hollywood" reports, these should not have been the only calls Meghan made. "The Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand from New York was the one who gave Meghan the numbers of the US senators," says the report, which also specifies Meghan's big political plans: "She wants to be part of a working group that pays for itself in the long term with Holiday keeps busy, and so will she."

Royal experts make fun of the Duchess

In an interview with "TalkRADIO", the British royal biographer made fun of Duchess Meghan's open letter to the White House and claimed that Meghan was only "jumped on the [paid parental leave] bandwagon [...] so she can claim it was her letter that made it happen." But that's not the only thing that makes Levin smile: "Even the signature at the end. It's a professional letter to high-ranking politicians and the signature is hers and also Archie, Lili and Harry. But Archie and Lili are certainly not yet involved in parental leave."
