What does the general obligation to test entail? Anyone who wants to enter Germany must prove from Sunday that they have been vaccinated against Corona, have recovered from the disease or have been tested. This applies to all countries and regardless of the means of transport used.
For whom does the test apply? For everyone from the age of twelve.
Does the test have to be taken before entering the country?Yes. Proof of a negative test result must be presented to the federal police upon entry upon request.

Who bears the costs for the entry tests? If there are no free tests in the destination country, those entering the country must bear the costs themselves.
Are there exceptions for cross-border commuters? Exceptions to the obligation to provide proof are provided for cross-border commuters and cross-border commuters as well as daily commuters. They only need to have proof when entering from a high-risk area, virus variant area or by air. People who do not have proof of vaccination or proof of recovery only need a test proof twice a week.

What are the quarantine rules? When returning from high-risk areas, unvaccinated people must go into a ten-day quarantine, which can be ended on the fifth day at the earliest by submitting a test certificate. Anyone under the age of 12 can end the quarantine after five days without proof of a test.
In the case of virus variant areas, the 14-day non-reducible isolation obligation applies to everyone. The quarantine obligation does not apply to vaccinated and recovered people if the variant area from which they enter is downgraded to a high-incidence or risk area after entry and during the quarantine.
