Anyone who has ever worn a full 20 box of beer on the long arm or in front of the stomach knows the problem. The smaller the biceps, the longer the arm becomes within a short time. Most of the time, the way from the car to the doorstep is enough for this. But what if you don't have a car at all?The Dresden Tilmann Rothe, possibly in a beer mood, broke his head about it.A effort from the supermarket to home and from there for the evening barbecue in the park? Not an option for the 23-year-old industrial engineer student.Rothe tinkered and finally had a smart idea that should work on bus, train, by bike and on foot and also protect the back. The result was: Beerbag - the clever carrying system for beer boxes.
What can the "funeral" carrying system do?
The principle of burialbag is based on the simple idea not to transport the beer box in front of the stomach, but on the back.A trick from the moving industry, where heavy parts are generally worn in this way.Now two leather straps are a little bit to fix a beer box on the back.Rothe grabbed two wooden boards, clamped a box in between and pubed on a belt system that holds the whole thing together and sits as comfortably as possible.Like a normal backpack.
The result was a prototype made of two wooden panels, a belt system with back padding and the (obvious) extra that it can also be used as seating at every grill party.Rothe baptized his invention in the name "Beerbag".On Monday he presented his prototype on VOX to investors in "The Lion's Den".Does "Beerbag" keep what Rothe promises? We subjected the carrying system to a practical test.
The berbag system is available here
Das "BeerBag"-Tragesystem im Test The first impression
Serbag comes in a box printed on both sides, which contains all important information about the product.Including that each individual carrying system is manufactured in workshops for people with disabilities. From the box there are two plates made of glued, but otherwise untreated wood. Both are covered with black foam parts. At first glance, the boards are neatly processed. One is printed with the berbag logo. There are a total of four blacks, approx..Five centimeter wide nylon straps, which are already frayed at the ends in our test product. There is also a assembly instruction.
The practical test
And this Monday instructions are urgently needed. However, some of the pictures are more confused than they help to connect the belts correctly with the boards. The good news: Once the straps have been threaded properly, the fumbling has ended. We needed almost 30 minutes to correctly assemble the carrying system. Now the beer box has to be placed correctly and tightened firmly. For this, the box is first covered with one of the boards. In our test product, this board was not fully on the edge of the box (as stated in the instructions) and wiggled slightly back and forth on the bottle necks. On the other hand, the box was sure to freely frightened. The misrepresenting of the 20 box was also not a problem. The somewhat cryptic indication of how long the ends of the threaded straps must be urgently observed.Otherwise the plastic buckles end up on the box of the box during the final lashing.TV criticism
DHDL "Set that!"- How the lions dismantled a business idea
In the end, the box has to be led over the shoulder on the back.To do this, you should know that a 20 beer box (with content) weighs between 17 and 18 kilograms. On top of that, almost three kilograms come, the berbag weighs. If in doubt, you should be better helped with putting on.Once on the back, the box in the funbag felt amazingly inconspicuous and quite comfortable. The belts do not cut in.Nevertheless, one could think about additional cushions for the shoulders.Admittedly, you have to tilt the upper body slightly to the front to be able to run stable and safely. The same applies to climbing stairs.
Funeralbag should also be suitable for brief bike tours. But that was not part of our test.Oh yes, as a seating furniture ,berry can also be used after a few simple steps.Even with backrest. No world sensation, but practical.
The conclusion
Beerbag is an original idea.No less, but in our view no longer. What Tilmann Rothe has tinkered with in his student booth in Dresden within a year is nothing that the world has been waiting for.It is undoubtedly more convenient and comfortable to wear a beverage crate on your back than in front of your stomach or on the long arm.But we cannot and do not want to imagine more than a short foot march with 20 kilograms on our backs. For some of the approximately three million students in Germany, Beerbag can be a practical gadget for future purchases if there is no handcart on hand.
Important note: At the moment, Beerbag only works for 20 beer boxes, and not here either for everyone. From our point of view, too, Rothe still has to improve here. There may be a larger market for a flexible carrying system that also absorbs large and small lemonade and water boxes.
As "the most original thing that has ever been presented here", Carsten Maschmeyer nobodyed Tilmann Rothe's beer idea in the current episode of "The Lion's Den".Like his four fellow campaigners, he expressed doubts about the fact that "Beerbag" can be successful on the market. In the end, Ralf Dümmel did not bring the heart to the likeable founder without a real business plan without sending a deal back to Dresden. He invested 20 for 30 percent company components.000 euros in the start-up."One of the fairest company reviews we saw here," said Dümmel.
