Johnson & Johnson: Hardly any vaccination protection after seven months Laumann on booster vaccinations: "More decentralized solutions"

Anyone who associates with Johnson & Johnson is vaccinated, probably only has a rapidly decreasing protection against the corona virus. According to a study, after seven months it is hardly there.

The Johnson & According to a new US study, Johnson only has a vaccination protection of 13 percent after seven months. The epidemiologist Timo Ulrichs told the ARD political magazine "Report Mainz" that anyone who has only met Johnson & Johnson was vaccinated should act as if he had not been vaccinated.

The Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) had already published a new recommendation at the beginning of October. Accordingly, people who are associated with Johnson & Johnson received an additional dose of mRNA vaccine four weeks after the Johnson immunization, for which only one dose is generally recommended.

Are vaccination certificates still valid?

So far, the new scientific findings have not affected the validity of the vaccination card: The vaccination certificate is also available from Johnson & Johnson valid for one year. In Germany, three million people have been vaccinated with it.

There is a discussion in the EU about whether the validity should be adjusted. But so far there has been no change in Germany.

What about the protective effects of the other vaccines?

Most vaccinated people are still well protected against serious illnesses even after months. What decreases significantly after a few months is, above all, protection against infection, i.e. against getting infected. The vaccination protection goes down gradually and is not suddenly gone.

Johnson & Johnson: Hardly any vaccination protection left seven months Laumann on booster vaccinations:

Which vaccine is recommended for the booster?

According to the Paul Ehrlich Institute, people infected with Johnson & Johnson were vaccinated, does not depend on whether you receive the vaccine from Moderna or that from Biontech as a booster. Both are comparable in terms of safety and effectiveness.

However, according to Stiko's recommendation, Moderna should only be used for the 30+ age group. Because especially in young men under 30 years of age, the risk of heart muscle inflammation is higher than after a vaccination with Biontech. In addition, pregnant women should only be vaccinated with Biontech.

How long does it take for the booster to take effect?

Just one week after the third vaccination, vaccination protection is comparable to that after the primary immunization. You have the full new vaccination protection after two weeks. Then the protection should be at least as good as after the second vaccination.

How many people does it affect?

The Robert Koch Institute announced in mid-September that a good three million people in Germany had received a Johnson & Johnson vaccination. This vaccine was also used less frequently in NRW compared to the other vaccines. For the Rhineland, the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians of North Rhine gives the WDR the following figures:

In practices, the following amounts of the respective vaccines have been administered there:

Cities and districts used these amounts with mobile vaccination teams, among other things, up to October 1st, 2021 (data from private doctors may also be included):

What is known about vaccine breakthroughs?

Back in September, the Robert Koch Institute reported significant numbers of vaccine breakthroughs at Johnson & Johnson reports. By then, 6,106 people had contracted Covid-19 despite being fully vaccinated.

For every million people vaccinated with this vaccine, there would be roughly 2,000 vaccine breakthroughs. With Biontech/Pfizer, the most commonly used vaccine in Germany, there would be around 640 breakthroughs for every one million fully vaccinated people.
