Ikea is following suit: With Shop & The Swedish furniture store Go wants to make shopping more innovative and convenient for customers. All you need is a smartphone.
After the supermarket chains Rewe, Netto and Kaufland started using alternative payment systems in the past few weeks, the Swedish furniture store is now following suit.
At Ikea, the so-called "Shop & Go" payment method will be introduced in all branches by summer 2022. Using the IKEA app, you scan the items before you put them in the shopping cart. At the end of the day, you pay at the express checkouts using a QR code that the app generates after you have finished shopping.
"Shopping behavior is becoming more and more digital and the demand for mobile solutions is growing. Whether Click & Collect or Shop & Go, as an omnichannel retailer, we create an even more convenient shopping experience for our customers with the seamless integration of all channels. " explains Mathias Hördemann, Acting Country Digital Manager at IKEA Germany.
The new payment method is to be introduced in all Ikea furniture stores by summer 2022. Customers in Berlin (Tempelhof), Dresden, Frankfurt (Nieder-Eschbach), Hamburg (Moorfleet) and Karlsruhe can already use the new payment method.
