1. The original also determined the Tough Steve Mcgarrett on the US island group. But unlike in the reboot, this Mcgarrett (Jack Lord) was more of a one-man army than a team player. His partner Danny Williams (James Macarthur) was more of a guest star than an equivalent colleague.According to the independent, Lord even insisted that his serial colleagues are only listed as "guests".Only at MacArthur was a "with", "co-star ring" ("in other leading roles") was not allowed either.
It's very different in the new edition.Steve Mcgarrett is the team's leader in it, but without his colleagues he too is pretty stuck. Here it depends on the teamwork. The resulting relationships with each other also made up the charm of the series.
2. The new edition comes up with much more interesting characters - both on the side of the good and the evil. All team members of the Five-0 got a background story, a family back story that made them emotionally tangible figures.Villars like Adam Noshimuri also laid out a character development, as you rarely see it: from evil Yakuza to a reliable informant to a permanent team member. In the original, hardly anything can be seen.Mcgarrett is the tough cop, which steals the show everyone and the evil boys are flat characters who sooner or later end up in jail without chance.
3. Admittedly, this point is not entirely fair, since there was no such variety of series of series in time of the original, but the crossover episodes with other series made the new "Hawaii Five-0" something special. The viewer knew that there were other teams in the world that fought for the good.So there were joint consequences with "Magnum P.I.", "MacGyver" and "Ncis: Los Angeles".But again: this is not necessarily a failure of the original.Common serial universes are simply much simpler to realize these days.
