35 years ago, on 27.January 1987, the song came to the index therefore.The song stands there until today.Lubded Farin Urlaub (58) and band colleague Bela B (59) explain the consequences in an interview with the German Press Agency in Berlin.
Question: How do the doctors think about the case retrospectively?
Farin vacation: First of all, I find it funny that as - by the way, sexually completely inexperienced - 15 -year -old I could write this text that is dangerous to youth at all.We played the song live for years, of course also to provoke, and then finally took it up to the third album - and the CBS, our record company at the time, had nothing against it.We simply completely underestimated the force of this incest topic and did not speculate on it according to the motto "Punk can and may and can only encourage yourself to spit it.We didn't know anything like indexing, except for any violent horror films.To this day I think it was more about statutory statutory.Maybe I lack sociological understanding, but with the best will in the world, I cannot imagine that someone can be seduced by this silly song for incest.
Bela B: Personally, I was happy about the excitement at the time, precisely because that was my picture of punk rock.In the record company, everyone did as if it were not a big problem.Only an employee with whom I had to do because of an interview took me aside and told me that he would not play these songs to his daughters and that he had a big problem with it.So I only realized that we were quite wrong in terms of taste.At that time we were still too young for the view of parents.The fact that our debut album was also indicated was absolutely to be understood as an example.
Question: How dramatic were the economic consequences?
Farin vacation: After the indexing and above all because of the sensational confiscation of our albums, we no longer sold any plates in some record shops from one day to the other.Our non-indicated records were also returned by understandably frightened plate dealers.And the radio didn't want to burn their fingers on the dirty boys anyway.Concerts were also canceled or no longer booked.We were almost without income for about three quarters of a year - fortunately GEMA paid even further.The resolution of the band has already been discussed, but we didn't want to give up that simple - the evil always wins?!Then, however, the whole story turned and we were suddenly stylized heroes.That was wind on our young punk flags!
Bela B: But for me this broad front against us was honestly satisfactory.A father shouted at me in a talk show, before our concerts was demonstrated, flyers were produced against us and there were information stands on our concerts that were organized equally by the CSU and the Greens.If I'm honest, I already liked that.
Question: Has the indexing affected later texts?
Farin vacation: minimal.We quickly decided not to ride around it anymore.With the album "AB 18" the topic was done for us.How many scandals can you conjure up without becoming as desired and screens?Later we preferred to provoke just along the flavor boundaries, but this never really had a criminal relevance - because so much is now not prohibited in Germany.Of time their art, art its freedom. Es war uns später wichtiger, Tabus zu brechen, zum Beispiel in "Omaboy", "Manchmal haben Frauen", "Meine Freunde", oder große Themen etwas subtiler in Popmusik zu verpacken wie in "M&F", "Lasse redn", "Ein Schwein namens Männer" oder "Antizombie".

Farin vacation: invitation to violence or fueling hatred against certain groups of people - often hand in hand with dehumanization - in my opinion should generally have lost nothing in a liberal society - and even less in art.
