On Friday evening (October 1st) the 25th German Comedy Prize was awarded in Cologne. A total of 19 comedy shows and podcasts and five comedy stars were nominated by viewers in a total of five categories. In the live show moderated by Katrin Bauerfeind (39) and Steven Gätjen (49) on Sat.1, the audience was also able to choose the winners: fans were able to cast their votes online and by telephone up to the last minute. The programs and stars that ultimately won their favor include "LOL: Last One Laughing", "The Show" and the two podcasters Felix Lobrecht and Tommi Schmitt (both 32).
Best Comedy Show
In the "Best Comedy Show" category were "Chez Krömer" (Das Erste), "LOL: Last One Laughing" (Amazon Prime Video), "World Wide Living Room" (YouTube), "Studio Schmitt" (ZDFneo) and " Freshly roasted every day" (RTL / TVNow). In the end, "LOL: Last One Laughing" won the race. Moderator Michael Bully Herbig (53) thanked him via video link, the participants Torsten Sträter (55) and Wigald Boning (54) were happy on stage.
Best Satire
The formats "ZDF Magazin Royale" (ZDF), "heute-show" (ZDF), "Die Show" (Das Erste), "extra 3" (Das Erste) and "Dittsche - Das really true life" (WDR) fought for the title "Best Satire". The trophy went to "The Show". Comedy Prize co-moderator Katrin Bauerfeind accepted it on behalf of (41), who could not be present that evening.
Best Comedy Fiction
"Best comedy fiction" went to the series "Ms. Jordan is equal" (Joyn / ProSieben), "KBV - No special occurrences" (TVNow), "You don't die among friends" (TVNow / Vox) or "Slavik - Auf Staats neck" (Joyn). The race made the latter production. Producer and leading actor Mark Filatov (31) was particularly pleased to be able to take the comedy award home for the second time. In his acceptance speech, he gave a piece of advice to up-and-coming comedians: "Try to do what you can't do. ... That'll make you successful."
Originally, "ÜberWeihnachten" (Netflix) was also nominated for "Best Comedy Fiction". However, due to the public discussion about leading actor Luke Mockridge (32), those responsible had removed the production from the nomination list. With this step you want to protect the cast and crew involved, it said in a press release.
Best Comedian/Best Female Comedian
In the "Best Comedian" category, Hazel Brugger (27), Felix Lobrecht, Torsten Sträter and Knossi (35) were eagerly awaiting an award. Due to illness, winner Lobrecht was only connected via video link from the hotel and thanked his fans and his professional partner and buddy Tommi Schmitt in particular.
Best Comedy Podcast
Schmitt and Lobrecht were also able to take home the comedy award for the "Best Comedy Podcast" with their successful format "Gemischtes Hack". This time, Schmitt turned to his co-podcaster and wished him a speedy recovery from the stage. Also nominated were: "Fest & Flauschig" (Jan Böhmermann and Olli Schulz), "Bratwurst und Baklava" (Özcan Cosar and Bastian Bielendorfer), "Baywatch Berlin" (Klaas Heufer-Umlauf, Jakob Lundt and Thomas Schmitt) and "Die Pochers here!" (Oliver Pocher and Amira Pocher).
Best Newcomer and Honorary Award
Bremen's Kawus Kalantar was honored as "Best Newcomer". Maren Kroymann (72) had to put up with a few jokes from 27-year-old Hazel Brugger at her expense shortly before the end of the award ceremony. Then, according to Brugger, "absolutely unbelievable, delicious, just fantastic" cabaret artist, actress and singer received the honorary award to a standing ovation.
In her acceptance speech, the 72-year-old also commented on the Luke Mockridge case without mentioning him by name. She expressed criticism of the broadcaster Sat.1. He should have publicly shown solidarity not only with the 32-year-old star, but also with the women who accuse him of various misconduct.
