Since October 23, Amazon Prime Video subscribers have been able to watch the sequel to the rough comedy "Borat" by and with Sacha Baron Cohen (49). "Borat Connection Moviefilm" or "Borat 2" for short once again ruthlessly holds up the mirror to the USA shortly before the upcoming presidential election on November 3rd. Famous fans of the cult Kazakh with the ill-fitting suit agree that what is seen in it shocks and amuses in equal measure.
You can watch Borat 2 here
Comedy Actors(38) have "watched the flick six times and I can't wait to watch it a seventh time. It's crazy and wonderful and couldn't be more timely. It also includes some of the funniest scenes ever I've ever seen in a movie". In a second tweet, he once again explicitly praised Borat actor Sacha Baron Cohen. He is "the only person I know who literally puts his life at risk for his art".
Demi Lovato learns from Rudy Giuliani
Of course, the shameful scene of Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani (76) is also hotly debated among the stars. At one point in "Borat 2," the ex-mayor of New York City grabs his unbuttoned pants during an interview with Borat's supposedly underage daughter. He only wanted to put his shirt in, Giuliani then defended himself on Twitter. Not only Demi Lovato (28) doesn't buy it: "So you always drink with reporters, follow them into the bedroom and then lie down on the bed to have them remove the microphone? Guess I've completed my interviews so far wrong," she wrote on Twitter.
Even "Will & Grace" star Debra Messing (52) could hardly believe the Giuliani scene: "Trump has 'only the best'." Actor John Cusack (54) also took the Fox News news channel to his chest, which is said to have unprofessional proximity to Trump, and wrote: "Don't worry, the Fox News greasers will find a justification."
Praise for the film duo
"Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn (54) is full of praise for the film "Borat 2" and the use of the main actors Sacha Baron Cohen and Maria Bakalova (25), who embodies the daughter of the title character. "I love Borat. I laughed hard and was shockingly emotional," Gunn said. Amy Schumer (39) also attests: "'Borat 2' is the funniest movie I've ever seen and it comes at just the right time."
With that, Gunn and Schumer sum up the basic tenor of many viewers. Above all, the Bulgarian newcomer Bakalova steals many scenes from Borat herself. According to one Twitter user, she was even more fearless than him. On the one hand, the sequel makes you laugh, on the other hand, it offers a warmth that was not thought possible. "'Borat 2' is surprisingly heartwarming and just what we needed in this dreadful 2020," wrote one user.
