Why so many women like dominant men

In every circle of friends there is that one single woman who is swarmed by kind, sensible men, but constantly seeks her fun from macho men who disappoint her again and again when it comes to something serious. We secretly wonder why the nice guys don't manage to win her heart when they would be so much more suitable for a long-term relationship. However, she keeps picking the wrong ones.

The fact is, however, that there is no wrong and right - only dominant and the opposite of dominant. This can be boring, nice or reserved in relation to a man.

Dominating men are clearly ahead in the battle to conquer women

Women are attracted to dominant men and love it when the man takes control and stands in front of them to protect them. Because, despite emancipation, nothing has changed in the desire for safety and security provided by a male being.

Since the success of Shades of Gray at the latest, dominance in bed has also been an issue. And socially accepted! Because the attraction of dominant men has its effect not only in everyday life, but also in lovemaking. Interestingly, even mostly during lovemaking! Females are genetically trimmed to seek out a strong male who will provide them with food, shelter, and offspring. If a man is dominant, he subconsciously signals "Don't worry baby, I've got everything under control, you're safe with me".

And that feeling is exactly what hits women like a bomb. They realize that they can let themselves go, that this man will catch them and that he can stand up for them if need be. And if you look at the reality, it is indeed the case that dominant men earn a lot because they often hold senior positions. They know what they want, they can assert themselves and at the end of the day they bring home more money that makes a good living. What more could one – excuse me, woman – want?

Transferred to the modern age, this explains why women often get involved with men who appear questionable to those around them and who do not seem to be suitable for stable relationships. The attraction here can not only be explained in terms of evolutionary biology, but also sexually: A self-confident, dominant man promises adventure and is therefore far more interesting than one who sits cautiously in the corner.

Perhaps there is also a hint of danger involved – in any case, dominant men ensure that women start dreaming of hot hours together and that a certain tingle arises naturally. This also explains why women with reliable and outwardly perfect partners allow themselves to be carried away by infidelities.

The fascination of dominance will probably not dry up anytime soon and stories like Shades of Gray will continue to bring success.
