Måneskin have not only become the ESC winner in 2021, but also a real hit sensation. Her songs were streamed in Spotify alone this year alone (!), In addition, they cleared countless awards and awards - and even brought the ESC to the radar in the USA.
Immediately after the ESC final, the “Zitti e Buoni” winning song was in the foreground, which was posted in 9th place on the global Spotify charts the day afterwards. With 3.9 million streams in 24 hours, the song became the ESC title, which was mostly called up on the platform, within a day. This was followed by a successful start to 9th place on the German single charts, in other countries such as in Finland, the Netherlands, Greece or Sweden, 1st place. But it quickly became apparent that the group was not only able to inspire with their ESC winning title."I Wanna be your slave" and the cover song "Beggin" also gained attention and popularity.
And so the next sensation succeeded at the beginning of July: with "Beggin" it went to the top of the global Spotify charts.Every day the song was played there at times over 7.4 million times and was able to leave any international competition behind-so far there has been no ESC act in this form.So "Beggin '" by Spotify was named one of the summer hits 2021 and in Germany it was also the lead of the charts.
Little surprisingly, the announcement of a European tour for spring 2022, which will probably be completely sold out, came at the end of September. In addition to the popularity on the streaming platforms, the Italian ESC winners also gave numerous live performances, in Germany, for example in "Schlag den Star", in Poland, where they caused a sensation with a kiss on stage and even on US television, for example at the late night show by Jimmy Fallon, or at The Voice. At this year's MTV European Music Awards they also performed and won the award in the "Best Rock" category. Most recently, the band performed a medley from the three songs "Mammamia", "I Wanna Be Your Slave" and "Zitti e Buoni" on The X Factor Italia.
With all your popularity you can of course also listen to the existing songs, which is why Måneskin published a new song with "Mammamia" in autumn.Although the song with 60th place in the German charts was not able to build on the success of the previous singles, with over 30 million streams it is still a solid success for the group.
For 2022 the second part of the EP "Teatro d’ Ira" is expected. But first Måneskin will make the halls in Europe shake before they will surely be on stage at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin and the Italian (and international) audience will be enchanted.2021 was the breakthrough for Måneskin and at the same time only the beginning - because that the band will continue to deliver may probably be assumed as secure.
A personal note at this point: I am extremely pleased that Måneskin had an ESC act (and winner) so much success this year, you are the best example of what a springboard of the ESC for your own careercan be.Perhaps it is also a signal of more established artists to give the competition a chance. In any case, the ESC with Måneskin has gained attention and probably also to reputation, and - regardless of whether you like the band's music - this can only be greeted!
