It doesn't matter whether it's the policeman in his service uniform, the pilot in his chic flight jacket or the lawyer in his black robe
For many people, uniforms and other work clothes have a special appeal. And also in the upcoming carnival period, many men and women like to wear uniforms as costumes.
Meanwhile in Germany, a study and a survey commissioned by the dating platforms ElitePartner and Parship also support the cliché of the "sexy uniform". Among other things, they looked at which jobs are considered particularly attractive for most women. You gave the respondents several jobs to choose from and examined how many associate each with something attractive. Landed in the front places:
- Architect (32 percent of all women surveyed)
- Doctor (31 percent of all women surveyed)
- Lawyer (28 percent of all women surveyed)
- Craftsman (24 percent of all women interviewed)
- Police officer (19 percent of all women interviewed)
- Pilot (19 percent of all women interviewed)
If you also include overalls and white doctor's coats, occupations with uniforms clearly dominate the ranking. But what is it that makes workwear so attractive? Relationship scientists like the US psychology professor Gary Lewandoski Jr. have been dealing with this for years:
These reasons make the uniform so exciting for many people:
During his research, he comes to several fundamental conclusions. And they all have to do with what the uniform expresses subliminally. On the one hand, it symbolizes self-confidence and strength - in both sexes. Because the wearers first have to earn the special clothing through their special training. They often need a lot of perseverance to do this and ultimately become reliable problem solvers in their specialist area.
The uniform also always shows that the wearer belongs to a more or less elite circle. At least the clothes connect them with certain ideas and values at first glance. This is also the reason why many uniform wearers often find other uniform wearers particularly attractive. The flirt between fireman and nurse has already made it into many movies and TV series.
Some psychologists go a step further and refer to men in uniform as real-life comic book heroes. Many uniform jobs require special physical or mental skills, as well as caring for others. Some of them also deal with dangerous situations that need to be conquered. This exudes courage and a sense of security at the same time.
